What is same-day surgery?
Same-day surgery is almost exactly what it sounds like: it is when we book your first-time consultation, pre-operation testing, and surgery all on the same day. It is available for LASIK, PRK, ICL, Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE), and Crosslinking (CXL).
The process condenses everything into a single day, so you should plan at least three hours out of your day for the entire experience. Even though everything happens in one day, your surgery is never rushed.
Your same-day appointment, step by step
Plan for about three hours from check-in to discharge.
1. Check-in and testing
After a brief check-in, a technician spends about 30 minutes evaluating your eye health.
2. Doctor discussion
A comprehensive eye exam is followed by a consultation with your surgeon on the details of your procedure.
3. Counselor and scheduling
A patient counselor reviews pricing and financing and walks you through pre-surgery preparation.
4. Surgery
Most of our surgeries are quite fast — usually only around 20 minutes.
5. After surgery
Post-procedure monitoring before you are discharged.
