Restore Clear Vision With In-House Cataract Surgery
We offer in-house cataract surgery. There's no need to be referred anywhere else for your procedure.
What Are Cataracts?
A cataract is a clouding of the natural lens of the eye that occurs slowly as we age. Cataracts are extremely common: roughly 25 million Americans have them today, and about 90% of people develop them by age 65.
Cataracts can form in one or both eyes, causing blurred or hazy vision that glasses cannot correct. The good news is that about 85% of people achieve clear vision after surgery.
Signs You May Have a Cataract
If several of these sound familiar, it may be time for a cataract evaluation.
Cloudy or hazy vision
Vision looks blurred or foggy and glasses no longer sharpen it.
Glare and halos at night
Bright lights create glare or rings, making night driving uncomfortable.
Difficulty reading fine print
Reading small text becomes harder even with your current prescription.
Faded color perception
Colors look yellowed, dull or washed out.
Frequent prescription changes
Your eyeglass prescription keeps changing more often than before.
Previous LASIK no longer effective
Vision that was corrected by earlier LASIK has started to decline.
What to Expect From Surgery
Cataract surgery removes the cloudy lens and replaces it with a clear, artificial lens called an IOL (intraocular lens). It is an outpatient procedure with no overnight stay and no general anesthesia, typically lasting 7 to 10 minutes under topical anesthesia.
Your care begins with a comprehensive eye exam and vision testing. During surgery you receive numbing eyedrops plus relaxing medication. Most patients enjoy significantly improved vision within the first few days.
